This guide provides a quick morning checklist, a cashier training practice guide, and troubleshooting tips for common counter hiccups.

  • Open the MEGSTAT POS billing screen. If prompted, log in with your cashier PIN.

2. Check the Thermal Receipt Printer

  • Confirm the printer power light is green.
  • Check that there is plenty of thermal paper on the roll (avoid running out of paper in the middle of a customer checkout!).
  • Click Print Test Slip under counter settings to verify clean, dark printing and alignment.

3. Check Your Barcode Scanner

  • Pick up any item from your counter shelf.
  • Point the scanner at the barcode and pull the trigger.
  • The item should instantly appear in the cart with the correct name and price.
  • If it beeps but doesn't show up, make sure the USB cable is firmly plugged in.

4. Count the Opening Cash Drawer (Float)

  • Never start billing with an uncounted drawer.
  • Open the shift and enter the exact starting cash (e.g., ₹2,000 in small change).
  • Ensure the drawer pops open smoothly when commanded.

Cashier Training: Practice Mode

When onboarding new counter staff, let them practice the core checkout actions before they face real customer queues.

Practice Exercise 3: Hold & Recall a Bill

  2. Pretend the customer forgot their bag of sugar and runs to the back of the store.
  3. Click the Hold Bill button. The cart clears instantly so you can serve the next shopper.
  4. Add a quick item for the next practice customer and complete checkout.
